The FIA European Drag Racing Championship is Europe’s leading four‑wheel drag racing series, sanctioned by the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA). The championship runs four events across Santa Pod Raceway in England, Tierp Arena in Sweden, and the HockenheimRing in Germany, featuring top classes such as Top Fuel, Top Methanol, Pro Modified, and Pro Stock.

The series is promoted and administered by Drag Racing Europe (DRE), ensuring professional event management, championship coordination, and continuous development of the sport across the region.

FIA Drag Racing Classes

Top Methanol

Top Methanol features open-wheel dragsters or funny cars powered by V8 engines that are either supercharged with methanol fuel or natural aspirated with nitromethane fuel. These cars produce around 4,000 horsepower and cover the track in just over five seconds. When bodied cars ("Funny Cars") and Dragsters compete with each other, there is a handicap at the startline of about 0.2 seconds. The competition distance is just over 402 meters (quarter english mile)

Pro Stock

Pro Stock consists of production-based car models using highly refined racing technology. The cars run naturally aspirated V8 engines on gasoline and use 5-gear manual transmissions. With very small performance differences between competitors, the class emphasizes driver skill, reaction time and precise engineering. The competition distance is just over 402 meters (quarter english mile)

Pro Mod

A Pro Modified car accelerates to 300 km/h in just over three seconds and passes the finish line at around 400 km/h. With power levels exceeding 3,500 horsepower, Pro Mod cars are among the hardest‑accelerating race cars with doors in the world. Several engine combinations are allowed, including turbocharged, supercharged, and nitrous-assisted. The competition distance is just over 402 meters (quarter english mile)

Top Fuel

Top Fuel is the fastest class in Drag Racing. The cars are powered by nitromethane-fueled, supercharged V8 engines producing more than 10,000 horsepower. They can accelerate from 0 to 500 km/h in less than four seconds, making them the quickest accelerating competition vehicles in the world. The competition distance is 1000 foot which equals to just over 304 meters.
